Is timing subject to goals in success or the other way round?
Rose Kennedy once said, “Life isn’t a matter of milestones, but of moments.” does this makes goals subject to timing? Napoleon Hill also said “Don’t wait. The time will never be just right”. Does this make goals and objectives more important than timing?
Before we proceed here, let’s find a gray area. One consistent occurrence in these inspiring quotes remains the same. I.e. the importance of goals/objectives, and timing. Another grey area to find is the relativity of success. Success is defined as the accomplishment of an aim, objective or purpose. We all have different aims and objective, so success is only relative to whatever goals we find ourselves accomplishing at different times. Let’s not get carried away trying to define success.
Relating this to the business world, Ideas are key to succeeding in the business world. Once you get your ideas on paper, set goals, map out a plan to achieve goals, you have set yourself up for success.
However, without proper timing, all plans fail.
So how does this work? Time yourself before planning? Time your planing before putting ideas down? Plan your timing with your goals?
Before we answer this “how” question, let’s take a look at the “Why”.
Starting a business implies that as a CEO, you have to be proactive and not reactive. This means you have to be prepared to –
make the right decisions,
be on the frontlines of the latest news,
Be prepared at all times.
How to be Proactive?
- Research
Research your products, services, and audience using laser-focused market research. Collate data from all sources available. A lack of information/data spells doom for your business. - Hire a consultant:
As a start-up, you do not need to know everything, you need to know about everything. So hire an expert who knows what you need to know - Building a team:
Many do not know that timing also applies to build a team. In building a team, you need the perfect fit at the right time.
Being proactive affords you the opportunity of not being caught unawares. Also allows you to make sound and informed decisions ahead of deadlines.
Now, how does timing and planning work?
The importance of planning cannot be overstated. As if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Neither can the importance of timing be overstated. As business personnel, you do not want to place the cart before the horse.
Looking at the success of huge corporations in the 21st century, a lot of planning goes into products and services, but their timing ensures optimum delivery and increased conversions. Thus, it is quite expedient that you factor in both to be successful.
Not to sound too cliche, but success involves planning your time and timing your plan. In a broader sense, this means assigning all tasks and projects to be performed to specific and strategic times that best suits it. This is why being proactiveness is key to being a CEO/business personnel. It ensures that you are ahead of every source of information, plan and time according to the information you have.
So basically, it takes more than just time and planning to achieve success in whatever path you find yourself.
